Who we are
FirstBench is admissions software for schools and colleges. Parents apply on their phone, and the institution's office runs admissions in one place.
The legal entity that operates FirstBench, and its address: Pending
Who decides what happens to your data
When you apply to an institution, that institution decides what its form asks for and why. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, it is the Data Fiduciary for your application, and FirstBench is its Data Processor: we store and process the application only on its behalf, under a written agreement with each institution. Pending legal review
For your FirstBench account itself (your sign-in details, and the family details you choose to reuse when you apply to more than one institution), FirstBench is the Data Fiduciary. Pending legal review
What we collect
On this site: only what you type into the call-back form: your name, your institution, a phone number and the time you'd like a call. We use it only to call you back. The form asks nothing about children. How long we keep these enquiries: Pending
When you apply: the details and documents the institution's form asks for. Nothing about your child is stored until you have given consent, and we record when and how you gave it. The consent text itself: Pending legal review
Where it is kept
Applications, documents and accounts are stored on servers in India (Amazon Web Services, Mumbai region). Logs stay in the same region. The call-back form on this site sends your details straight to those servers in Mumbai.
What we don't do
- We never hold money. Fees go straight from the parent to the institution's own UPI ID; we only record the payment reference the parent enters.
- Emails we send carry no application details: only that there is a new message, from which institution, and a link to sign in.
- Our logs, error reports and usage counts carry no details about applicants or children.
- No third-party analytics service receives what you type into a form.
- This site sets no cookies of its own; it remembers your language choice only in your own browser. The web apps use one cookie, to keep you signed in.
How long we keep it
- An application you started but never submitted is erased after 90 days without activity.
- If your child is not admitted, the application is erased six months after the admission cycle closes. Pending legal review
- How long admitted applications are kept: Pending
Your rights
From My data in the parent app you can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, erasure, or to withdraw your consent. Each request goes to the institution, which must act on it, and you can see its status and due date (90 days) in the app.
Security
To report a security problem, write to security@firstbench.app. If a breach affects an institution's data, we tell that institution within 24 hours so it can inform families and the Data Protection Board.
Who else processes data for us

Questions and complaints
Our grievance officer, and how to reach them: Pending. Questions about your application go first to the institution you applied to.
